iCloud implementation (NOT)

In this small Blog post, we would like to explain the current status of the iCloud feature in the iOS Spogger app for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Let me begin this quick technical update with the following quote, that was written at the launch (copied it from the Schedule view at the Olympic Spogger App Features page):

And if all that is not enough we have also integrated iCloud, allowing automatic synchronisation of changes across all your devices. Therefore you can make changes on your iPhone while on the move, and your iPad will automatically pick up those changes.

Unfortunately due to a critical reason we decided to remove this feature from our Olympic Spogger app. The main reason being that the iCloud FrameWork resulted in the app experiencing instability. iCloud is currently in Beta mode and Apple acknowledge that there may be stability issues for apps, using iCloud (also confirmed by a number of Apple developer forums).

iCloud is a great feature and we were really excited about including it to help enhance your experience, however, under the circumstances E-Beeze Ltd (the mobile apps development team) have decided it is best to wait for iCloud to become more stable. At a later date when the stability issues are address by Apple we will be more than happy to include this feature.

Please note that the iCloud feature will be not available from version 1.0.2.

Olympic Spogger app gets even better…

Olympic Spogger app gets even better…

Releasing our Spogger application for iOS and Android was a great success. We achieved hundreds of downloads in the first few days, with great reviews. Currently the iOS Spogger App has got a full 5 star rating in the App Store! Thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Like all good software developers we strive to improve our app on a regular basis.  Having received feedback from users we have been quick to implement them and have included the new features in our updates.  My team have worked extremely hard over the last couple of days and the next version of Spogger was submitted to Apple on Tuesday May 29 (less than 10 days from initial launch) – the release date now lies with Apple.

Olympic Spogger Version 1.0.1 has the following updates:

  • Two additional languages – Spanish and Chinese
  • Bug fixes for the Blog’s and YouTube’s PullToRefresh method
  • Critical bug fixes
  • Minor changes to the UI

Also, we recognised the need to create a Free version of the Spogger app (both for iOS, and Android platforms) to give you, our users, the opportunity to try this great app before actually purchasing it. As you can expect there are differences and limits to using the key features with the opportunity to upgrade. We have also placed some adverts in the Free app, but you can get unlimited access, and also remove all adverts by purchasing an item via In App Purchase. This provides you with the same fully functional app (the paid version).

The Free Olympic Spogger app was submitted for review to Apple on 31 May.  Depending on their review time, it will be available in 10 to 14 days. Meanwhile work has started on the development of the Free Android version – which will he ready at about the same time.

Please support us.
We have some great ideas for additional features that will make your user experience even more fun and joyful. We therefore ask your support by purchasing Spogger app, which will help us create even better apps for you.

Thank you!
